Bridal Tea

It’s officially a month away from the big day! I have been super busy with school, work, and wedding planning that I have not been able to share my wedding planning tactics and stories. Hayden and I were blessed with 3 wonderful bridal showers. I wasn’t able to take pictures at the first two because I forgot my camera { 😦 boo!} BUT, I finally remembered it on the last one! Today, I wanted to show some images from my super fun and cute Bridal Tea Party! {YES, THIS WAS A REAL THING!}

Hayden’s aunts, Jen and Wendy, did a wonderful job of planning and preparing for the shower. They surprised me in January and told me they were going to plan a shower for me and it could be whatever I wanted {amazing, I know!}. Of course, I love the South, and Southern traditions and BOOM! Bridal Tea Party was formed. They asked me to pin ideas onto a Pinterest board to give them some inspiration, and they ran with it! I was/am SOOO happy with how it turned out. It was amazing and so much fun!

Side Note: The wedding dresses displayed are the mother of bride, mother of the groom, grandmother of the bride, grandmother of the groom, and great grandmother of the groom. This was one of my favorite parts {and the food too.. the food was AMAZING *insert heart eye emoji*}.

Things I Love… Peonies

Peonies are a lovely and very classy flower. Most importantly, peonies are perfect for weddings. If you are in the midst of picking out flowers for your big day, look no further, peonies are the way to go.

I should warn you, if you are planning to use fresh peonies, it is not guaranteed they will arrive fully bloomed. They could arrive on your wedding day still in a tight bulb. Please consider the look you are going for and the amount of risk you are willing to take. The quality of silk flowers has increased dramatically over the past decades. Ordering in silk is a great way to insure that you will get your flowers exactly as you want them.

Happy Planning!

When God Tells You to Wait

I think one of the hardest things in life is to be patient. I know God blessed me with many talents and special abilities, but He did not grant me much patience. Different times in my life, it has been a struggle to wait for things, people, and decisions. I know it is struggle for a lot of other people too! So that’s why today, I’m writing about what to do when God tells you to wait.

For me, it’s easy to remember a time when God told me to wait and I didn’t want to. Growing up, I really didn’t seriously date anyone. I just couldn’t find anyone that emotionally complimented me the way a boyfriend, or one day a husband would. Even though I prayed for God to bring me a man and to prepare me to be a great wife, I knew it was never promised to me. I was worried that I would never date or marry. When you’re in high school and all of your classmates are dating other people, you really begin to feel like you messed up somewhere because you’re not getting that experience. I was frustrated, really frustrated, and while the world told me that I need to be less conservative and more “out-there” to find a man, God told me to follow Him and patiently wait. This was extremely difficult. It wasn’t fun going to every school dance alone and wondering what I was doing wrong and why no one wanted me. Then one day, God gave me an answer, my answer, He gave me Hayden. It was crazy for me! After much prayer and patience, my answer came and my life changed.

While that’s a great story to hear, I know some of you are saying, “You’re lucky your prayer got answered the way you wanted!” You’re right; I am very blessed that I received the answer I was praying for in that instance. However, there have been times in my life, when God asked me to wait and things didn’t end up the way I had originally wanted. At the time, I was so frustrated and confused. I didn’t understand what I had done wrong and why I wasn’t receiving the answer I wanted. However, I can say after I’ve received an answer I didn’t want, things have still worked out when I’ve kept my eyes and heart on God. Things might have not worked out the way I originally planned and it might of not been exactly what I wanted, but everything was still great. I can’t explain why God makes us wait for some things. I can’t explain why certain things happen to some people and don’t happen for others. However, I can tell you that when you keep your eyes and your heart focused on God, you will have peace. If there would be anything I would tell my younger self about waiting for a man, it would be to have faith in God. To have faith that God would find me the perfect man or that without a man I would still feel great and wonderful. God is the living water, and while other things and people in life are great, He is the only one you need.

John 4:13-14

13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

If you are currently waiting here are some verses for you:

Psalms 27:13-14

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Isaiah 30:18

Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

Lamentations 3:25

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.

Proverbs 16:9

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

Micah 7:7

But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.

Romans 12:12

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

What to wear? Groom’s Edition

So it’s time to check one more thing off your very long wedding to-do list, picking out your groom’s attire!! There is a lot to think about when picking the mens attire. You have to analyze what style, color, or cut will compliment the groom, groomsmen, and wedding.

First, I want to say “do what ever you want!” If you have an idea in your mind, go for it! It is your {and your groom’s} wedding day.

Which brings me to number two, ask your groom what his opinion is on his outfit. If he gives you permission to do whatever, then you’re good to plan on your own. However, if he does take an interest in his outfit, listen to what he’s wanting. Most of the time, the groom doesn’t have much say in wedding planning, so this is a great time to really listen to him!

Now, it is time to pick the right outfit for your man!

Current Trends in Groomswear

Gray

Gray Tux WeddingGray Tux Wedding

Gray is a very popular trend right now, and I can see why! It can look classy or rustic, and it is versatile for any season. If you’re not a fan of the typical black tux, this can be a great alternative.

Navy

Oh my goodness {!!!}. Navy suits and tuxes are currently my favorite trend. These look very stylish and classy. You can choose to pair them with a matching navy vest or suspenders!

Black

The always timeless black tux is quite wonderful. If you are looking for the classiest look, a black tux is for you! A stylish black bow-tie really pulls off the look too!

If your groom has a fun and spunky personality this is the option for him! Find a suit that goes with your theme/colors and that shows off his creative personality. Guests will love to see this personal touch in your wedding.

Slim Fit

If your suit or tux has a slim fit option you should consider it! The slim fit  takes away the typical “boxy” look that comes with a normal suit or tux.

Wedding Colors Inspo

One of the first steps in wedding planning is picking out a color palette. I found this process to be extremely difficult because I am extremely indecisive. I will be showing y’all my wedding colors at a later date, but today I will be showing some of my other favorite wedding colors! I hope this provides you with some great inspo for your own wedding!!

Glitzy GoldGlitzy Gold
This past fall I attended a wedding that had all glitzy bridesmaid dresses and it was super cute! Glitzy gold is a new trend that is rapidly growing. If you like the classic black and white wedding, but just want to add a punch of personality this is the choice for you! You can either add glitzy gold to everything or you can downplay this theme and only add a touch of gold here and there. I like this theme because it is so classy and fun! If you are tight on budget dollars, the best time to shop for gold accents is after Christmas.

LightBlue&PeachLight Blue and Peach
If you didn’t know I am a huge fan of the South and Southern Charm. The reason why I picked this color combination is because it reminds me of a beautiful Southern wedding. I think these colors would look best, and make the most sense, in the spring or summer. If you want to save money the best time to shop for these items is once the light blue and peach items are put on clearance after Easter.

modern black and whiteModern Black and White
This combination is very similar to the first however it has a little bit more of a feminine touch. This color combo includes accents of gold but more importantly hot pink. If you are a fan of Kate Spade and prefer a romantic wedding look, this is the color palette for you! I personally love the usage of pink roses and stripes in this option. If you want to save budget dollars the best time to shop for this color palette is after Valentine’s Day.

Simply SalmonSimply Salmon
I didn’t realize how much I loved this color until I started looking at more pictures. Salmon is such a wonderful color for a spring, summer, or fall wedding. This color brightens up a room and can make a rainy wedding day so much happier {God forbid it rains on your wedding day!!). If you’re worried that this color might not suit your bridesmaid, that’s okay I have a solution! Instead of salmon bridesmaid dresses, you could opt for navy dresses with salmon jewelry. Your best chance to snag a deal on Salmon colored items would be after spring or summer.

I know it can be stressful to pick a color{s} and stick with it. If you are unsure of where to even start here are something you should consider:

  1. What are you and your fiancé’s favorite colors?
  2. What time of year are you getting married?
  3. What type of theme is your wedding?

I hope these questions help you think of potential color combinations and make your planning go much smoother. If you have any questions you’d like to share ask below! Also be sure to keep visiting back, I will be posting some of my own wedding ideas in the near future! 😉
